We had a relatively easy drive to our next destination of Mackay. It took us about 3 and ½ hours and was uneventful. We realised that we are once again in sugar cane country with various road-side reminders to use our “brain” when we encounter a “cane train”. Along our journey, we saw quite a few trains on our drive but didn’t have to wait for any at the various crossings. We arrived in Mackay for a late lunch and had booked into a caravan park, where Lyn and Steve have been staying for the last few days. It was lovely to catch up with them and we had a relaxing afternoon chatting and working out what we might be doing for the next few days. Lyn had booked us into a local pub for dinner and we enjoyed a lovely meal and great conversation.
