Sunday 14th September, Fantastic Floriade and Great Golf

Pat and I were off to Floriade today and we had absolutely perfect weather. Floriade celebrates Spring and one of Canberra’s parks is transformed with beautiful garden beds, bursting with colour. The main plants used were tulips and every colour of the rainbow seemed to be there. Rob dropped us off at the Floriade, early before the gates even opened. We strolled around the park admiring the many garden beds. We also visited the many stalls and shops set up in the grounds, some based around gardening and others selling clothing and gifts etc. Both Pat and I made some purchases! We had fun visiting the gnome decorating stall and also sitting in the wonderful sunshine enjoying the free entertainment. The entertainment was varied and included singers, bands, belly dancers, Latin-American dance group etc. Towards the end of the day we visited “The Garden, Underground Spirits” bar for a cocktail high tea experience. This was great fun! We had our own specially set out, seating area and a waitress brought us a G and T, along with a 3 tiered platter stand with the most delicious savoury and sweet delights. It was a fabulous way to finish our time at the Floriade. While Pat and I had been having fun at the Floriade, Rob had been out playing golf. He was very happy with his golf and ended up playing with some young men. He said they were more than happy to play with an “old guy” like him. Rob picked us up from the Floriade and we went back to Pat’s hotel to relax and enjoy a drink after a great day.
