Another short drive today from Theresa Creek Dam to Lake Maraboon, a large lake just 25km. from the large town of Emerald. Lake Maraboon Holiday Village is another one of our favourite places in central Queensland. On the way we stopped off at Capella to stretch our legs. Capella is a lovely, friendly small town that we had all visited in the past. Emerald is also a great town, being a centre for both agriculture and mining. Cotton, grain, sunflower and citrus are all grown in this area. Lake Maraboon is one of Australia’s largest man-made lakes although when we arrived, we were surprised to see how low the level of the water was. This was very different to the other lakes and dams we have visited. The dam is at 20% capacity according to some locals Rob spoke to. The extensive caravan park located close to the lake has a pool, a bar and a cafĂ©. Considering the warm weather, we are experiencing here, we may have to have a dip in the pool! We spent a relaxing afternoon around the park, doing washing and catching up on small jobs. Lyn and Steve joined us for a lovely relaxed happy hour as the sun set.
