The weather was doing the right thing and so we decided that today would be a good day to visit the town of Dorrigo, located in the Dorrigo National Park. It is in the mountains and so it’s better to visit when the weather is fine. We had a reasonable easy drive to the beautiful, little town of Bellingen. Full of old, quaint shops the town was very busy. We stopped off to visit the Old Butter Factory which is now a place for artisans to work and exhibit and sell their crafts. We enjoyed looking around before sharing some delicious scones with our coffee. Continuing, we made our way up the windy road to the peak of the mountain at Dorrigo. We visited the Rainforest Centre and the Skywalk lookout, before going for an invigorating walk through the rainforest. From here we visited the Dangar Falls lookout and enjoyed the spectacular view of the falls with a large amount of water coming over the falls, certainly more than when we were here last year. After this we drove back to Bellingen, had a light lunch and explored some of the lovely shops…..mainly the architecture, not necessarily what the shops were selling. Returning to Sawtell, we went for another walk around the Bonville Head lookout another stunning lookout which gave us views of both Bonville Beach, Bonville Creek and Sawtell Beach.
