Sunday 17th August, Mania at the Markets

Coffs Harbour Harbourside Markets are on every Sunday so we had to visit. We enjoyed strolling along and perusing the various stalls from, fresh fruit and vegetables to an alternative lifestyle stall, which sold an array of goods to help with your well-being, including tuning forks and other paraphernalia to improve your health in mind, body and spirit. Rob was sceptical especially as there as something that would repair your DNA! Rob probably spent the most money, out of all three of us as he found some bargain golf prizes for use later in the season. We also bought some berries and pumpkin, before deciding to go for a walk up to the viewing platform on the nearby Muttonbird Island. This walk was described as easy and mostly flat. Well, it was to start with. An easy stroll along the marina causeway to the island led us to a very steep uphill track to the viewing platform. We took our time and made it to the pinnacle to enjoy some impressive views over the coastline and back to Coffs Harbour. It was also a good place to spot whales and I spent some time chatting to a man who was doing some whale spotting for a tour boat which was out to sea. Following this we drove back into Coffs and found a lovely place for coffee. We headed back to the caravan, stopping to do some shopping on the way. In the afternoon I left Pat and Rob to prepare dinner and had a magnificent kayak along the nearby Pine Creek. It was calm and the reflections on the water were stunning. I have to say the roast pork dinner was excellent and Rob and Pat had done a wonderful job. They had done all the cooking in Pat’s cabin which gave them a bit more room to spread out.
