The rain was gently falling when we awoke but as we drove further north it disappeared completely. We had quite a drive ahead of us today to make sure we were well and truly away from the rain bomb and had booked into Rockhampton. We travelled from Yarraman through a few towns we have not visited in the past so that was good. By coffee time, we had arrived at the town of Biggenden, a lovely little town we have visited before. We were once again in coal and cane country. In some places we saw many fields of sugar cane along some of the roads. We also passed several long trains with carriages of coal being transported to nearby ports. The weather kept improving the further we drove and we stopped at a beautiful Lions Rest Area Park in Miriam Vale for lunch before finally arriving in Rockhampton. I had peeled my windcheater off soon after our coffee stop and I wasn’t surprised to see quite a few children in the water-park and pool at the caravan park. After setting up, I put the heater away, under the bed in the caravan because we probably won’t be needing it for a while. We’ve actually had it on every night since we left Adelaide!
