The weather forecast decided our activities for today. It was a “no” to golf and kayaking due to the predicted rain. Instead, we decided to go and explore the area by car. Our first drive was up the steep, winding road to the North Brother Lookout. We had visited this lookout several years ago and knew that it gave magnificent views across the lakes and rivers, to the coast. We were very lucky as the sun came out for a short while we were there and although the visibility was excellent, it was pretty good considering. From here we drove for about an hour along a pot-holed, gravel dirt road, through Dooragan National Park and Crowdy Bay National Park to Crowdy Head. Here we went for a walk (as once again the weather had been kind to us), around the Historic Crowdy Head Lighthouse which was built in 1879. Once again there were beautiful views of the coast. We took an easier path back to our caravan park staying on the bitumen. The vehicle was pretty dirty from all the mud we’d driven through so Rob cleaned it back at the caravan park as this very well equipped park had a cleaning bay. We finished the day by visiting the local bowling club for dinner. This large, and comprehensive club that was very busy. We arrived before 5.30pm as we wanted to go in the meat raffle (20 prizes) which started at 5.30pm and had fun having a drink but unfortunately, we didn’t win any meat trays! Dinner was an excellent roast at a very reasonable price! Despite the weather not being the best, we’d had a most enjoyable day.
