The temperature dropped significantly last night and Rob, who would prefer to wear shorts all the time reluctantly said he’d need to wear jeans today as it was too cool for shorts. We had another “driving day” and all went well with the journey. After leaving Goondiwindi and entering NSW, we drove towards Narrabri where we were going to stop for coffee. Along the way we passed a few very large, wide and heavy loaded trucks with all sorts of huge machinery or others carrying accommodation units. A few kilometres out from Narrabri a large triple trailer truck had failed to take a bend in the road successfully, and had “gone over”. This was the way it was being described by the other truck drivers who we could hear on our UHF radio. Traffic was restricted to one lane at a time. By the time we arrived on the scene, the clean-up had started. It didn’t delay us too much in the scheme of things. It was great to see all the wattle trees on the sides of the road, out in bloom. Stopping at a beautiful camping area on the Castlereagh River in Mendooran where we enjoyed lunch, we continued on to the Wellington Caves Holiday Park. This is where we will spend the night. We have visited the caves on previous visits and they are very impressive, but we’ve not actually stayed out here. Rob is in his element as not only are the caves adjacent, so is a golf course so he went out on the course to practise his putting and chipping.
